United community aids local RV resort during storm
Pioneer Creek RV River Resort was partially evacuated on July 23 due to flooding from the storms that wracked the county last Tuesday. During the process, they received an outpouring from the larger local community, many of whom turned up with their own trucks offering to help.

KRISTINA (KRIS) STEPHENS FETT
Kristina (Kris) Stephens Fett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (known as “Marme”), sister, aunt, and friend, died peacefully at age 77, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. She bravely fought a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer with courage and grace. Her strength was an inspiration to her family and friends. The family is grateful for MD Anderson’s loving and excellent care of Kris.

Abbott sends firefighters to CA for wildfire aid
Governor Greg Abbott announced earlier this week that he has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and Texas A&M Forest Service to deploy firefighters, emergency management personnel, fire engines, and equipment to assist with wildfire response efforts in California following a request from CAL Fire through the California Office of Emergency Services.
