Robert Rio, a local activist from Pipe Creek and owner of Custom Creation Costumes, will headline the December luncheon meeting of the Hill Country Chapter of Texas Democratic Women on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Rios, whose leadership and creativity have guided recent protests and rallies in Kerrville and Bandera County, will discuss his experiences organizing demonstrations and producing protest materials.

Since June 2025, Rios has designed and produced many of the signs seen at demonstrations throughout the Hill Country, according to a press release from the chapter.

His business, Custom Creation Costumes, draws on 35 years of experience creating costumes for theater productions, special occasions, and practical uses.

The meeting will also feature the Doyle School Community Center in Kerrville, the chapter’s 2025 charity, which will accept food and monetary donations for its food pantry.

Doyle Center leaders will share information about their programs during the event. Donations will be collected at the entry as guests sign in.

Guests may begin signing in at 11:15 a.m. in the lecture hall at 125 Lehmann Drive and pick up box lunches.

The business portion of the meeting starts at 11:45 a.m., followed by Rios’s presentation at noon.

The luncheon is scheduled to conclude at 1 p.m., though attendees are welcome to stay for informal conversation.

The Hill Country Chapter of Texas Democratic Women serves Bandera, Gillespie, and Kerr counties and hosts luncheon meetings on the first Tuesday of each month from September through May.

Meetings are open to the public, but reservations are required by email to treasurer4hcctdw@gmail. com by Nov. 28.

Attendees should indicate whether they want a box lunch ($15) or beverage only ($5). Payment will be collected at check-in.
