The Medina Bobcats captured the Bi-District Championship with a commanding 74-26 victory over Runge on Friday night, keeping their 2025 season alive.
The win sends Medina to the Area Championship, where they will face May High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Marble Falls Faith Academy High School.
In other sports action, Medina’s junior high teams opened their season with a clean sweep over Utopia on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The Boys B team, Girls A team, and Boys A team all came away victorious in their matchups.
The Lady Cat varsity volleyball team also had a strong week.
All varsity athletes earned district honors, with seniors Audrey Gatlin and Kailey McCabe receiving Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State recognition.
Gatlin was named District Co-Defensive Player of the Year and earned Academic All-District honors. McCabe earned first-team All-District recognition in addition to Academic All-District honors. Other district honorees included junior Crista Zirkel, who earned firstteam All-District and Academic All-District honors; freshman Keeley DeLeon, second-team All-District and Academic All-District; junior Georgia Hickman, honorable mention All-District and Academic All-District; freshman Paige Arnold, honorable mention All-District and Academic All-District; and freshman Keira McFarland, honorable mention All-District and Academic All-District.
