The Bandera Lady Bulldogs Basketball team had its season opener on Friday, Nov. 8, against Hondo and came away with a sound victory.
After two scrimmages and many days of practice, the Lady ‘Dogs were ready to step on the floor and get after it in the first, regular season game of the year.
They came out hungry for the ball and fired up, playing great defense and holding Hondo to only five points in the first quarter.
Along with stellar defense, the Lady ‘Dogs put up several good shots and had several fall in the first quarter to score 13 points.
At halftime, Bandera was up 21-14 but didn’t relax, coming out after the break with a strong third quarter. The Lady ‘Dogs only allowed Hondo to score four points in the third and had a great quarter offensively, putting up 18 points.
To close the game, the Lady ‘Dogs continued to play exceptional defense and compete until the last buzzer.
When it was over, Bandera had beaten Hondo 45-26 for a 1-0 season mark.
