The Lady Bulldogs were very busy last week with three games and a “will or will not go to the playoffs” factor in play.
The Bandera girls team lost 73-44 to Wimberley on Wednesday, Feb. 3, then lost 69-31 to Fredericksburg on Friday, Feb. 5, and then won 42-35 against Davenport on Saturday, Feb. 6.
“With the 42-35 against Davenport win, the Lady Bulldogs keep their playoffs hopes alive,” said Coach Kierstyn Sells.
The Lady Bulldogs came out a little slow on the offensive end in the Wimberley game but were able to improve as the game progressed.
After they found their groove in the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs scored 16. At halftime, the Lady Bulldogs were only down by 11 with a score of 29-18.
The Lady Bulldogs came back fighting in the second half, but numerous foul calls put Wimberley on the line too many times.
Ultimately, the Lady Bulldogs fell 44-73.
In the Fredericksburg game, the Lady Bulldogs only allowed the Lady Billies to score 29 points in the first half.
The Lady Bulldogs handled the Fredericksburg defense well and scored 16 of their own points. At half it was 16-29.
In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs scored 15 points, but Fredericksburg was able to pull away scoring 40 of their own for the win
In the Saturday match up, the Lady Bulldogs started the game a little slow, giving Davenport life, but after the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs played their game and went into halftime up 21-17.
The team continued to battle through adversity and stayed tough through the second half. The team was able to stay tough and execute on both ends of the floor to the 42-35 win.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Canyon lake 38-34, securing the fourth place seed in the district. They will play Navarro at 7 p.m. on Thursday night in Pleasanton.
