Both the varsity and the junior varsity Lady Bulldog Track and Field teams won overall championships at the Saint Mary’s Hall Relay Invitational Meet held on Saturday, Feb. 22, Bandera Independent School District officials have reported.
Each team won their divisions by scoring 140 points apiece.
For the varsity team, the 100-meter hurdles relay team of Maci Morrison, Madison Leal, Summer Haby and Hope Avallone along with the distance medley relay team of Jordan Edwards, Morgan Cole, Danielle Gonzales and Raelynn Butler won first place; and the 4X400 relay team of Cole, Hannah Edwards, Haby and Shaely Rogers took second place.
Also, the 4X800 relay team of Gonzales, Caitlyn Thrasher, Kaitlin Doebbler and Sidney Timmons, along with the 4X1600 relay team of Butler,Thrasher, Doebbler and Jordan Edwards claimed third place finishes, and the 4X100 relay team of Paris Gruver, Rogers, Haby and Edwards came in fourth.
Hannah Edwards won first and Gonzales won second in the pole vault, while Morrison claimed third place in the high jump, and Morrison and Timmons won fifth and sixth respectively in the triple jump.
For the JV team, first place finishes were recorded by the 4X400 relay team of Noellia Guevarra, Sophie Hartmann, Haley Barta and Abril Rodriguez, the distance medley relay team of Tanna Flewellen, Guevarra, Hartmann and Mallorie Powell and the freshmen 4X100 relay team of Guevarra, Estella Calderon, Lillian Harrison and Abril Rodriguez.
In addition, the JV 4X100 relay team of Haley Barta, Hui Ann Risoey, Mackenzie Williams and Haley Lannon, the 4X200 relay team of Harrison, Calderon, Risoey and Rodriguez, and the 4x800 relay team of Hartmann, Powell, Flewellen and Kathya Gonzales won second place in their races.
Rounding out the JV score was a first-place finish for Ivette Hernandez and a second-place finish for Brooklyn Hall in discus, and a thirdplace finish for Williams and a fourth-place finish for Calderon in the long jump.
The Bandera track teams return to competition this Thursday, Feb. 27 at their home track meet. The running events are set to begin at 1 p.m. and the field events at 4 p.m.
