Two animals – a fox and a raccoon – tested positive for the rabies virus after being taken down in different parts of Bandera County earlier this month, the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office has reported.
In separate announcements, Sheriff Daniel R. Butts said investigators received notice of the positive rabies test for the fox on Wednesday Oct. 14, and on a raccoon on Friday, Oct. 16.
The fox was retrieved from the 200 block of Green Valley Drive in Pipe Creek, while the raccoon had been downed in the 2300 block of Highway 16 North in Bandera, the announcements said.
