Samantha Mikel Kennedy of Bandera High School, Averie Elise McHaney and four other students received Good Citizen Awards from the Major James Kerr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The awards are handed out as part of the DAR Good Citizens Program, a yearly contest open to all seniors in accredited public or private secondary schools and intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship (dependability, service, leadership and patriotism), according to a brochure from this year’s George Washington Celebration.
