On Oct. 15, the Bandera Electric Cooperative unveiled a new rebate program to encourage energy efficiency and cost savings in its service territory. Rebates are available for qualified all-electric vehicle purchases and BEC-installed solar systems, the cooperative said in a news release this month. “Promoting the adoption of renewable energy is important to BEC,” said Justin McKenzie, its manager of energy services. “It not only benefits the individual member but also reduces the amount of power BEC purchases, keeping rates low for all members.” Solar rebates vary in size from $1,000 to $2,000 based on the size of the solar power system.
