U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced last month that additional commodities were covered by the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program in response to public comments and data.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Agriculture extended the deadline to apply for the program to Sept. 11 and said producers with approved applications will receive their final payment.
After reviewing over 1,700 responses, USDA officials decided to make even more farmers and ranchers eligible for assistance to help keep operations afloat during these tough times, a news release said.
