Online portal keeps parents informed

Progress reports on student performance for the first, three-weeks grading period in the Bandera Independent School District will be sent home on Thursday, Sept. 12, but parents can check on all the grades students receive on every assignment by signing on to the Parent Portal software and accessing the information online.

Suzy Groff, BISD’s director of communication and learning, said parents can see every grade each teacher enters in his or her grade book for their child through the portal and can sign up for alerts that notify parents when specific issues arise.

Alerts can notify parents, for instance, when a student is absent from a class or when a grade falls below a set level.

Teachers will update student grades at lease once per week, district officials said. Updates will be available for parents to view each Wednesday morning.

Parents and guardians can call the schools where their children attend to find out how to sign up for the portal or can sign up in person at the school.
