Cristie Akin wrote on December 2, 2020, about the high property taxes in Texas. She was quite alarmed as she claimed the property taxes were higher here than they were in her previous home in California. Perhaps Ms. Akin needs to be reminded that California has the highest rate of taxes in the nation. The sales tax in California is higher than it is in Texas. And perhaps she needs to be reminded that the state income tax in California is 12.3%, again the highest state income tax in the nation. And finally, she needs to be advised that the Texas state income tax is 0.0%.
