Soccer announces all-district, all-state honors

The Bandera Bulldog Soccer coaches are pleased to announce annual honors awarded to BHS' players.

Bandera High School’s Varsity Boys Soccer team finished their season in 5th place in District 36 4A. They finished the season 8-8-1.

“The coaching staff is incredibly proud of the work both JV and Varsity put in this season and wish the Senior Class of 2022 the best. They will be missed but have laid down the foundation for others to follow,” stated Head Coach Wesley Miller.

Senior forward Bryan Gonzalez was named to the All-District 1st team. Senior goalkeeper Cody Jureczki was named to the All-District 2nd team. The following players were named to the All-District Honorable Mention list: senior defender Juan Reyna, junior midfielder Alberto Muzquiz, junior midfielder Felix Diaz, and senior utility player Jacob Haas.

Named to Academic All-District list are: senior Donavan Brown, senior Bryan Gonzalez, senior David Guerra, senior Logan Sadler, senior Reese Mazurek, senior Joshua Nimmrichter, senior Jesus Rodriguez, junior Edoardo Cioli, and junior Miles Short. Academic All District players must maintain a 90 average in their classes during the fall semester.

Logan Sadler was named to the Texas High School Coaches’ Association Academic All-State 1st Team. Joshua Nimmrichter and Jesus Rodriguez were named to the THSCA Academic All State 2nd Team. Donavan Brown and Reese Mazurek were named to the THSCA Academic All State Honorable Mention list.

The Texas Association of Soccer Coaches has named the following players to the Academic All-District list: Donavan Brown, Bryan Gonzalez, David Guerra, Reese Mazurek, Joshua Nimmrichter, Jesus Rodriguez, and Logan Sadler.

Head Coach Wesley Miller stated, “We are looking forward to the future of Bulldog soccer. Congratulations to the All-District Honor recipients and the Academic All-State recipients.”

“I am so proud to announce the selection of the following Bandera Lady Bulldogs to their postseason honors. They worked hard all season to earn these honors and have represented Bandera High School, Bandera Athletics and Bandera ISD with great character and dedication! They embodied the spirit of We Are One,” commented Head Coach Keith Kuenzel.

Senior Lauren Benedict was named to the 1st Team All District. Senior Ashlyn Brown was named to the 2nd Team All District. Bietzel Gonzalez was named 2021-2022 Region District 26- 4A Co-Goalkeeper of the Year. Hannah Edwards, Rihanna Garza, Madi Lewis, and Sydney Jaeger were all named Honorable Mention All-District.

Academic All-District is based on academic performance by any player, trainer or manager who kept their grades above a 92 average and is a senior. Bandera High School players recognized for this honor were Lauren Benedict, Kiersten Brown, Ashlyn Brown, Isabella Chapa, Mila Chica Fasting, Hannah Edwards, Sydney Jaeger, Jocelyn Klein, Madi Lewis, Jetta Martinez, Emily Presa, and Iliana Silva.

The Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Academic All-State honors went to Lauren Benedict and Hannah Edwards. The Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Honors went to Hannah Edwards, 1st Team, and Lauren Benedict, Honorable Mention.

The Lady Bulldogs went 1-9-2 in district play. In overall play, they went 3-12-3 for the year.
