Medina runners claim state honors

Abigail Bower has led by example this season at Medina High School both at cross country practice and in the classroom.

She was named an Academic All State Cross Country Athlete by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, a prestigious award given to seniors only across Texas who excel in the classroom academically for their whole, high school career.

Obviously, she is a great kid who has a gift to run, and I am crazy excited to work with her in track this spring.

What I want kids to know is that Abby is taking care of business in the classroom, as well as doing all her sports and other extracurricular activities at Medina High.

In addition, Charli Mc-Cabe receiving the 1A All State Cross Country award is another outstanding accomplishment for the team.

Not everyone gets picked to be an all-state runner.

Charli ran great at regionals and state to make people really notice her. I am so proud of Charli and can’t wait to work with her in track.

We have such a great opportunity here in Medina to grow this program because we have great kids and support. Charli is surrounded by so many others here in Medina that her team is going to grow in success.

I am asking these two student/athletes, along with everyone else to trust the system, show up everyday, be positive and simply work hard.

Congrats to Abigail and Charli on this huge accomplishment and huge honor to be named to the All State list among all the 1A schools in Texas.

Cully Doyle is the head cross country coach and athletic director at Medina High School.
