Lady Bulldogs basketball eyes stacked schedule

The Bandera Lady Bulldog basketball team will face a challenging lineup of teams as it enters its 202223 season. The 4A Region IV District 27 line up is filled with power houses in women’s 4A basketball.

Coach Alex Oyola remarked, “I am very excited to be here in Bandera to grow the program. The girls have embraced me with open arms. My girls work hard and are eager to learn. I am very excited in the direction we are headed. Lady Bulldogs Basketball will continue to excel and grow stronger as the season progresses.”

The team is evenly divided with two freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors and four returning seniors. Standout senior players Summer Haby, Anahi Hinojosa, Stella Calderon and Taryn Garcia will bring a wealth of experience to the team as they finish their final season as Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs finished the 2021-2022 season 6th in district play with a 21-22 record.

The Lady Bulldogs will play Fox Tech at Fox Tech High School on November 15. Then they will play in the Pearsall Tournament on November 18 and 19.

The Lady Bulldogs will meet the Hondo Owls in Hondo during the Thanksgiving Break on November 22. On November 29th, the Bulldogs will play the Llano Lady Yellowjackets in Llano. On December 1 through 3, the Bulldogs will participate in the Poteet Tournament.

On December 6, the Lady Bulldogs will begin a home stand against Marion High School. The Bandera Tournament will follow on December 10. They will follow that up with a game against the Young Women’s Leadership Academy at home on December 12 and will have a bye on December 13.

To begin district play, the Lady Bulldogs will play crosstown rivals, the #9-ranked Boerne Greyhounds in Bandera on December 16. Then they will travel to Wimberley to play the #54-ranked Lady Texans at 1:30 p.m.. On December 27, they will return to Bandera to play Poteet.

To start the new year on January 3, the Lady Bulldogs will tackle the #21-ranked Navarro Lady Panthers at home. Then on January 6, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Canyon Lake to play the Lady Hawks. On January 10, the Lady Bulldogs will face their strongest opponent, the #4-ranked Fredericksburg Billies on their home court. On January 13, the Lady Bulldogs will meet the Davenport Lady Buffs at Davenport.

January 16 is another bye date for the Lady Bulldogs. On January 20, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Boerne to play the Lady Greyhounds. Bandera will play Wimberley on January 24 at home. On January 27, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Navarro.

On January 31, the Canyon Lake Lady Hawks will travel to Bandera. The 31st is also Parent Night for Lady Bulldog Basketball. On February 3, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Fredericksburg to play the Billies away. The last game of the season will be played at home against Davenport on February 7.
