Nursing students take patient care oath

The Schreiner University Nursing Program hosted its first White Coat Ceremony, a rite of passage to emphasize the importance of compassionate patient care at the start of training, at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville on Thursday, Aug. 13, nursing program officials said in a news release. Ten new nursing students recited an oath to patient care during the ceremony. In addition to reciting the oath, students came forward to be “cloaked” before family and friends in the iconic white coat that signifies their status as healthcare professionals.
