I want to compliment and thank the Silver Sage Senior Center and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) for their combined efforts to bring and administer the COVID-19 vaccine to residents of Bandera County on Friday, February 5.

Hearing the dose availability challenges faced by major cities in Texas, I despaired that we would be low on the list of counties to get the vaccine and was more than excited to get the call from DSHS scheduling our appointments.

The process was amazing in its efficiency and professionalism. The time checking us in as having an appointment to leaving after our 15-minute wait was about 40 minutes in total. At each stop along the way, there were smiling, friendly and helpful people assisting with filling out forms, providing information and administering the shots.

While getting the shot is not a guarantee that you won’t get COVID, it’s comforting to know that serious illness is somewhat mitigated by doing so. Thank you again to everyone that made it possible to get the shot in Bandera.
