Editor’s note: This is the latest in an ongoing series.
A Christian organization on the border will identify refugee families and individuals crossing our southern border who speak English and want help to settle in the U.S. We would tell them to send us 20 of these families. We receive comfort from Isaiah 49:7b-9 as we first pray, then organize to do our tasks:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.
I will preserve you and give you as a covenant
to the people who have crossed the border
to restore their families to inherit the desolate heritages
that you may say to the prisoners, ‘Go forth’
to those who are in darkness, ‘show yourselves.’
Fear not, for I am with you
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
Our Vision: To train migrants (todays pilgrims) that have crossed our borders and who speak English, to complete our Christian Job Corp process successfully, then to obtain employment with a future of earning middle income wages and be settled in a church and community.
Beginning in June we will train five days a week for two months our vision to complete all aspects of our Job Corp training including learning a wage-earning skill which will be attractive and benefit residents of Bandera, Kerrville and Boerne. We will connect them with churches who want them, then bring in another group of 20 refugee families.
As we finish with one group of pilgrims, we would help others. Jesus wants them saved and bound for heaven and eternal life.
