Mervin Joseph Buxkemper, 90, passed away on January 9, 2022, in Bandera, Texas. He was born on January 25, 1931, in George West, Texas to Otto and Frieda Buxkemper.

Buxy went to school in Orange Grove, Texas. He worked and retired from Valero Energy Corp. after 25 years and held the position as Sr. Mechanical Superintendent. Mervin loved his years spent at Valero. He served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and was stationed in Britain. Buxy was passionate about mechanics, gardening and his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Frieda; two brothers and five sisters. He was the last of 8 children.

He is survived by the love of his life, Kathy; children; Connie, Alan (Tracy); grandchildren, Andrea (Matt), Brad, Kevin, Kelsey; great granddaughter, Kimberlyn; he lovingly claimed Kathy’s kids, Leslie; Karen, Michael; their children and grandchildren; and, his very dear friend, “Old Juddie”, Jud Ashmore.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 5 to 7 PM at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel in Bandera, Texas. Visitation continued at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 14, 2022, with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 PM at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Bandera Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers are Kevin Buxkemper, Brad Moore, Cody Harrington, Wyatt Ortiz, Michael Keaton, and Matt Hannasch. Honorary Pallbearers are Jud Ashmore, Dwayne Sliva, and Jesse Georges.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to all our friends who have reached out to us over the last 30 days. All the Doctors, Nurses, Technicians, and staff at the Methodist Hospital San Antonio. To Lowe’s Supermarket for food and beverages for the family, and New Century Hospice.
