She was born in Gardner, Kansas to parents Anna and James Vernon Kelly.

She is survived by her four daughters, Ruth Thacker, Val Sizemore, Elaine Birdsall and Anita Pinalto, grandchildren, Keith, Denise, Shannon, Allison, Ashley and Lisha, great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Dillon, Timothy, Callie, Gary-William, Michael, Bethany and Akira and great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Reagan and Slade.

The four siblings grew up on a farm and were known to have a lot of fun getting into mischief when they were children.

At 21, Laverne married Navy photographer Eugene White and relocated to California, where she raised her four daughters.

Later in life, her second husband brought her to Center Point, Texas.

After her husband's passing, Laverne spent her remaining years in Bandera, with daughter Ruth and husband Bill Thacker.

She was known for her humor and good nature. And she was also known for being friendly and welcoming to everyone.

Laverne stayed very active during her Golden Years, enjoying the freedom of driving a pickup and working out at Curves.

The family wishes to say thank you to the caregivers at Bandera Nursing and Rehab Center. The whole staff, administration, nursing, aids, kitchen and laundry all kept Mom safe and comfortable in her final days.
