Weekly recycling up 34 percent in April

Recycling has shown no signs of slowing down in Bandera County.In fact, the average number of persons utilizing the Saturday recycling in Bandera County increased to 67 in April, a 34 percent increase over the average of 50 in previous two months.Currently, the items accepted are: corrugated cardboard; aluminum cans; and #1 plastic bottles.The limitation on acceptable items assures 100 percent of the collected items are sold and repurposed.As the markets for recyclables improve, other items will be added, says Janus Olive, recycling coordinator.Recycling was restarted by the county when a group of volunteers organized themselves into a nonprofit under ...
