Editor’s note: This is one in a series of columns by Medina Independent School District Superintendent Kevin W.
Newsom about district initiatives and key issues the district is facing.
The Medina Independent School District is in its fourth week of school, and the excitement is intense for the kids in this district!
It was a busy summer in Medina, and bond projects have rolled out incredibly well due to the diligence of our contractor, JK Bernhard, and our architect partners, Clay-comb Associates.
Projects completed are as follows:
• Elementary HVAC project,
• Lower drainage project,
• New parking lots and asphalt project,
• New agriculture science center,
• Junior high science lab,
• Campus fencing and gate project,
• Athletic fields irrigation project,
• New phone & PA intercom project,
• Campus-wide fire alarm system,
• New HVAC system – Bobcat gym,
• Gallant Building re-stabilization project.
We are still in the process of completing several large projects, including our multi-purpose gymnasium, new culinary arts center, campus sewer system and leach field and the One Act Play stage lighting project, as well as numerous small projects.
The Medina ISD Board of Trustees is extremely proud of the stewardship of our bond proceeds, as well as getting the most out of every penny of our taxpayer’s money.
Please come by for a tour or attend one of our extra-curricular events and see why we are “Medina Proud” of these new facilities that will be serving the children of this community for many years to come.
In other school news, football, volleyball and cross country teams have all started their seasons and success has been on the scorecard for all of these events.
We are so proud of our students and the staff here at Medina ISD that works so hard to educate, facilitate, coach, mentor and treat students like they are their own.
It is a great year to be a Bobcat, and we are Medina Proud!
