Two new deaths for 2022 were attributed to 2022 by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), bringing the total death count since the start of the pandemic to 69.

As of Monday afternoon, DSHS listed 489 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and an additional 145 probable cases so far this year.

Last week’s report from DSHS listed 379 cases and 108 probable cases, an increase from last week’s count of 379 confirmed and 108 probable.

Hospitalizations at Peterson Health Increased from last week, standing at 41. That’s up from last week’s count of 36, though the same amount of people (seven) are listed as being in the ICU.

Vaccination rates in the county continue to trickle upward, with 51.59 percent of ages five and up vaccinated and 44.80 percent of that same age group fully vaccinated.

Both of those numbers are less than a one percent increase from last week’s vaccination numbers for both age groups.
