County, EMS release monthly reports

Bandera County Sheriff Dan Butts and EMS Director Shannon Griffin, presented their monthly reports to the Bandera County Commissioners Court last week, with animal calls accounting for about 20 percent of the sheriff department’s calls. Butts reported his office responded to 592 calls for service and traveled 28,267 miles last month, with an average response time was 13 minutes and 57 seconds.

There were 11 felony arrests, 16 misdemeanor arrests, 27 agency assists and 13 public assists.

Butts said 27 property crimes were investigated and 65 crimes against persons.

The department received 120 animal- related calls, resulting in the pick up of 51 dogs and three cats.

Incoming and outgoing calls for dispatch totaled 6,716. There were 1,022 incoming 911 calls.

According to Butts, 21 total cases were filed in district court, 35 warrants served, 15 civil documents served and 15 out-ofcounty transports occurred.

Forty-seven individuals were booked in the Bandera County Jail, which had an average population of 71 inmates.

Commissioner Bobby Harris mentioned, “So out of 592 calls, 120 were animal-related calls. That’s about 20 pecent.”

“Yes sir, and it’s been running about 20 percent.”, responded Butts.

“And 86 of 120 calls were dog calls. This is not an animal problem. We have a people problem,” said Harris.

As reported by Griffin, in the month of October, EMS responded to 259 calls for service, covering 14,475 miles.

Average en route time was 59 seconds, and average on-scene time 11.09 minutes.

The department received and deposited $106,630.08 in billing revenue, $2054.31 for STRAC reimbursement for overtime from a 2021 COVID-19 deployment, $60,258.51 for the Texas Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program.
