The Bandera Library is hosting this month’s Cork Poppers, organized by the Bandera Chamber of Commerce. Tomorrow, March 10, at 5 p.m. come by the library for wine and hors d’oeuvres and meet the local business owners who make Bandera the town that it is.

There are two new programs to keep an eye out for this March. On Thursday, March 94, at 5 p.m., the Bandera Gardeners Club will meet in the Downstairs Meeting Room. All levels of gardening experience are welcome. The group discusses upcoming plans for their gardens and any questions they have on the challenges of growing vegetables in Bandera County.

Do you ever look around your house and think, “What am I going to do with all this stuff”? On Wednesday, March 30, at 4 p.m. is a class on decluttering and organizing taught by a certified organization expert. Come by and learn strategies to finally get a hold of the clutter.

We have recently installed seventeen pieces of Native American art in the Artist-of-the-Month gallery. All of the have been donated by a local collector and are for sale to benefit both the library and the Friends of Hondo Canyon.

Each piece dates from the 1960s and is from the Santa Fe Indian Art School. The students at the school learned their traditional ways of creating art and many of the graduates ended up having noted art careers. Come by the library to see these beautiful works and perhaps add one to your collection.

New titles this week include C.J. Box’s new novel starring Wyoming Game Warden Joe Pickett titled “Shadows Reel.” It is Thanksgiving time, and Joe and Marybeth’s daughters are on their way home to spend the holiday with their family. Joe gets called out to investigate a moose poaching incident that ends up being a significantly worse case: a fishing guide is found tortured and killed.

At the same time, Marybeth receives an odd, unmarked package at her library. It appears to be a photo album that once belonged to a notorious Nazi officer. But how did it end up here? Marybeth learns that several Wyoming soldiers were in the group as the Allies closed in on Hitler. One of them stole the Führer’s personal photo album; could it be that another one took this one?

Then a neighbor and friend of Joe and Marybeth is murdered, which leads them to question if the stolen photo album is the murderer’s real target.

The Bandera Public Library is located at 515 Main Street. Our hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Masks are recommended while in the building and curbside service is available for checkouts and business services.

Happy tales, y’all.
