Bandera Library Happenings

We have quite a packed schedule this week with our regular programming and a brand new group meeting on Thursday, February 27, at 11 a.m.

The Bandera County Gardeners group will be meeting once a month at the library to exchange knowledge and experience and bring questions to the group. It is open to all kinds and experiences of gardening. As anyone who has tried to grow a plant in Bandera County will tell you, gardening here comes with a variety of challenges. But once you can successfully harvest something the payoff is sweet. Contact the library for more information.

In case you had not heard yet, Satur day February 19, is Cowboy Mardi Gras! Keep an eye out at the Mardi Gras parade for the library’s float. Before or after the parade, stop by the library to peruse a mini-book fair benefiting the Friends of the Library. The Library will also be offering memorabilia from past events. Come by and get your collectible from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

New titles this week include a new thriller by Bonnie Kistler called “The Cage”. It is a cold and dreary Sunday night, and two women are working overtime at the posh fashion corporation Claudine de Martineau International. The two couldn’t be more different.

One looks every bit the fashionista with impeccable hair and clothing despite being alone in her office. The other is frustrated and frantically working her way out from under the pile of work on her desk. Both enter the elevator on the 30th floor at the same time lost in their own thoughts. By the time the elevator reaches the first floor, only one of them is alive. Was this murder or a suicide?

The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are strongly recommended while in the library building. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.

Happy tales, y’all. Mauri Guillen Fagan is the Director of the Bandera Public LIbrary.
