Believe it or not Thanksgiving is only a week away! As a reminder, the library will be closed Thursday, November 24 until Sunday, November 27, for the holiday.
If you are like me and get anxious if you don’t have enough to read, stop by the Friends of the Library Book Nook in the library and pick up a few extra books. You can call those your emotional support paperbacks.
As always, the books in the Nook are available by donation and the proceeds go to the purchase of new books for the library collection.
Programming will continue as usual the week of Thanksgiving, including the Watercolor class at 10 a.m. and the Bandera Pokemon League at 4 p.m. on Monday. Wednesday at 10 a.m. is our Country and Western music group in the Downstairs Meeting Room. December will be a particularly busy month.
The best way to keep up is to subscribe to our newsletter. It is a once-a-month email (Scout’s honor), and it lists all the wonderful things happening at your Bandera library.
Be sure to have the following events on your calendar. On Friday, December 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the library will be having a holiday open house/party. Families can bring their kids to enjoy the bouncy house, fresh popcorn and then snuggle up on the back patio for a screening of Home Alone. This is the final event celebrating the library’s 90th birthday. Bring your own camp chairs and blankets!
On Thursday, December 8, the library is hosting author Elizabeth Crook for An Evening With An Author. Come by to talk about Crook’s novels and her latest projects. Her well-known novel “The Which Way Tree” is set in the hills surrounding Camp Verde. There will be light refreshments provided. All are welcome!
The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is located at 515 Main Street across the street from the courthouse. We are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wi-Fi is free and available 24/7. Follow the library on Facebook and Instagram @banderalibrary. You can also subscribe to our blog on www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
Mauri Guillen Fagan is the Director of the Bandera Public LIbrary
