American Legion centennial celebration Saturday

Posted in:

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the American Legion, and the Lakehills James F. Pearson Post 410 is celebrating this milestone by honoring all veterans.

The post will mark the event with an Anniversary and Membership Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the legion hall, located at 147 26th St. in Lakehills. The hall will open at noon, as will the bar, and the public is welcome to attend.

Included in the festivities will be a dart tournament at 2 p.m. and an announcement after the tournament ends officially changing the name of 26th Street to Legion Drive in honor of the hall.

Legion members will also participate in an awards ceremony recognizing Service Star recipients.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Served will be pork loin roast with side dishes, a drink and dessert at no charge.

Because it is the centennial celebration, the public is invited to take part in addition to legion members.

After dinner, drawing will be held for several prizes, including a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta, an American Legion Centennial Coin Set and a gift card worth $250. Raffle tickets are still available for $10 each or three for $25.

In addition, there will be a drawing for a special gift basket from Garrison Brothers Distillery worth $300. Tickets for the basket are $5 each.

Tickets for both drawings can be purchased from any veteran and at the hall.

The Post 410 hall is open to the public from 3-9 p.m. on Friday through Wednesday each week. To learn more about the post, call 830-751-3711, email americanlegion410@att.net or check out its website at alpost410.com.
