THANKSGIVING FEAST BROUGHT TO YOU BY TEXAS FARMERS

November 22, 2023 - 00:00

Farmers and ranchers continue to provide the essentials for Texans to gobble up at the dinner table.

“As you celebrate with a good, hearty Thanksgiving dinner, know that those foods got their start on farms and ranches,” Booker Young, Bandera County Farm Bureau president, said.

Many of the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal are grown by Texas farmers and ranchers.

They raise turkeys, chickens, sheep, goats, hogs and cattle, providing a hearty centerpiece for the meal, no matter the meat of choice.

And those popular Thanksgiving side dishes have roots in Texas agriculture, too. Wheat, potatoes, corn, green beans, pumpkins, pecans and more are all grown in the Lone Star State.

What about the extra-big dollop of whipped cream on your pie or that glass of milk to wash it all down? Texas dairy farmers care for the cows whose milk makes those products, too.

“Farmers and ranchers in Bandera County and across the state are proud to grow our food and fiber,” Booker said. “We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving and enjoys time with family and friends.
