The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Bandera County as Cole Justin Davila, 20, of San Antonio.

According to DPS, preliminary information indicates a trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling on State Highway 16.

"The motorcycle evaded and collided into the rear of a Lexus SUV," DPS Sgt. De Luna Jr. said in a statement. "The rider of the motorcycle, identified as Cole Justin Davila, 20, of San Antonio, was pronounced deceased on scene."

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of State Highway 16 South and Farm-to-Market Road 1283.

"No further information is available at this time," De Luna said.

In a post shared to the Facebook group Fallen Riders, Eddie Davila, who identified himself as Cole Davila's father, thanked the riding community for its support and asked anyone who witnessed the crash to share photos or videos.

"I want to thank you all for being part of this group. I'm still lost for words. My wife and I are struggling with this," he wrote. "We will let you all know once we decide what to do going forward. I ask that you be patient. If anybody has videos or pictures please upload. Thank you all again."
