Stacey Baust gives a thumbs up while donating blood at the Lakehills Community Center. Appointments are available to donate on September 25 and November 20 at Silver Sage and December 16 at Lakehills. Go to donor.southtexasblood.org/ donor or call 210-731-5555 to schedule an appointment. Donating just one unit of blood may save the lives of up to three people. Donating blood may be life-saving for the recipient, but also for the donor. Each person who donates blood completes a simple physical examination, review of health history and blood test before giving blood. This is quick and simple but can provide early identification of anemia or high or low blood pressure. Courtesy Photo
