Trina Rose Dawes Sandidge of Bandera, passed into the arms of our Lord on January 22, 2026, while surrounded by close family.

Trina was born on July 10, 1943 in Perth, Western Australia, to Arthur and Betty Dawes. Arthur was a Chief in the United States Navy and Betty was an Aussie warbride.

She grew up in San Diego County, California. She graduated in 1961 from Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, California. She enjoyed attending their annual class reunions and reconnecting with old friends.

Trina attended San Diego City College and obtained her cosmetology license. She proudly kept her license current her whole life! She was an award-winning stylist, and hairdresser to celebrities in the 1960s.

Trina was a doting fulltime mother who was very strict, but also very loving. She volunteered in all her daughter's various activities, was a room mother, and Girl Scout leader, and taxi driver for her daughter's (and grandchildren’s) friends.

She loved to travel and see new places and have new experiences, she loved to dance and was always ready to take to the dance floor. Trina excelled at drawing life-like portraits of people, animals, and pets, in pastel, watercolor, and pencil.

Trina was an extreme animal lover and was a docent at the San Antonio Zoo. She was also a member of the Bandera Fine Arts Club and the Bandera Methodist Church.

Trina was known as 'Minner' by her grandchildren, and that became her beloved nickname for family and friends as well. Minner treasured time with her family and valued her many friendships.

Trina is survived by her daughter Shauna Davis (John), grandchildren Frank Kennedy Kingman, Shaun Andrew Kingman (Nicole), Tyler Davis, Lilly Davis, and Sophie Davis, great granddaughters Lydia Kingman, Hazel Kingman, and Olive Kingman, her sister Donna Merker of San Diego, California, her brother Richard Dawes of Bandera, her companion of 25 years Richard Stevens, and many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, and ex-husband George T. (Butch) Sandidge.

A memorial service will be held for Trina at Bandera Methodist Church, on March 7 at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. Her ashes will be interred at the Tarpley Cemetery afterwards.
