Nancy Kathryn “Kathy” Gauthier Gardner

Nancy Kathryn “Kathy” Gauthier Gardner, age 79, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on January 16, 2026. She was ready to be reunited with her beloved husband, John R. Gardner, whom she loved deeply.

Kathy was born on February 20, 1946, in Seguin, Texas, to George and Georgia Mae (Harp) Gauthier. From an early age, she was shaped by strong faith, close family ties, and a generous heart—qualities that defined her throughout her life.

For 33 years, Kathy served as a Special Education teacher with Bandera ISD. Teaching was more than a career for her—it was a calling. She was known for her patience, compassion, and strong belief in every child’s ability to grow and succeed. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom and touched countless students and families.

Kathy’s caring nature extended into her community as well. She helped found The Spirit of Christmas Presents, bringing joy and

hope to families during the holiday season. She also spent many years serving on the board of Bandera County Helping Hand and generously gave her time and talents to support the Bandera Education Foundation.

Above all, Kathy was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was grounded in her faith and love for those around her. Kathy treasured time with her family, valued lifelong friendships, and lived with grace, purpose, and humility. Her legacy of love and service will continue to live on in all who knew her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John R. Gardner, and her parents, George and Georgia Mae (Harp) Gauthier.

She is survived by her son, Roan Gardner, and his wife, Lisa, and their children Jordynn and Walker Kemp, Tristan and Paige Gardner, great-granddaughter Roane, and Cassidy Gardner; and by her daughter, Heather (Gardner) Burns, and her husband, Dustin, and their daughter Taylor Burns.

She is also survived by her brother and sister-inlaw, George and Margaret Gauthier; her nephew Chris Gauthier (Callie); her niece Nikki Johnston (Matt); and her sister-in-law, Joan (Gardner) Brice.

Services for Kathy will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera, Texas, with the Rosary at 10:30 a.m., the Mass at 11:00 a.m., and a reception to follow at St. Joseph’s Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bandera County Helping Hand.
