Following approval by the Bandera County Commissioners last Thursday, recycling is now available to county residents.

Starting last Saturday, the dump site between Mansfield Park and BEC is open for flattened corrugated cardboard, cleaned/rinsed aluminum cans and #1 plastic bottles.

The Bandera County Recycle Center will not accept food, liquid, plastic bags or to-go containers. It will also not accept glass, paper, tin cans or other types of plastic.

“With success at the Bandera site, we hope to expand the recycling to other solid waste sites in the county in the coming year and include other items for recycling,” said Robert Brischetto, coordinator for BanderaRecycles, a local group who led efforts with co-coordinator Janus Olive and over 30 volunteers to bring recycling to the county.

The recycling center will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located at 3012 Hwy 16 N.

BanderaRecycles extends a huge thank-you to Commissioner Jody Rutherford, Rachel Hering of Keep Texas Recycling and all who volunteered.
