Christmas spirit is strong along Main Street, especially at businesses like Bandera General Store.

Owners Glen McComb and Marcia Kabat were spreading holiday spirit with the third annual Children's Art Contest on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Judges Lynn White, Leigh McCourt, and Darcy Hasty presided over this year’s contest.

James Cammack took home first place in the 9-13 category, followed by Llilah Kinsey and Ellie Wilkes in second and third respectively.

Sophie Cammack received top honors in the 6-8 category. Rylee Haywood placed second, Anthony Wilkes third.

An Honorable Mention Award was given to Makena Haywood

All winners received a Gift Card to shop in the Bandera General Store ($75 for 1st, $50 for 2nd, and $25 for 3rd).

The festivities continued the following week, with a Gingerbread House contest last Saturday at the Bandera General Store. Story next week!

McComb and Kabat will also share holiday spirit on Christmas day by opening the 113-year-old building for people who have no place go.

“There will food, entertainment, fellowship and more. We want to make it a nice place to be on Christmas,” McComb said.

More pictures of the art, information about upcoming events and other store highlights are available on the Bandera General Store’ Facebook page.
