The Lakehills Civic Center held an event last weekend to help raise funds for a new barbecue booth

“This will be a down payment on the booth. We raised at least $2,500 towards this, and we expect the new Booth to probably cost around $20,000,” said spokesperson Barbara Engel.

When organizing the event, Engel suggested that the event’s menu offerings stand out from other such events that had been held in the past.

“Instead of potato salad and beans, we decided to have potatoes au gratin, green beans and a cheddar cheese biscuit to go with it.”

Almond-flavored Texas white sheet cake was served as dessert to help fill in the gaps.

“We got many compliments on our menu. It was fun to do, and we may consider doing it again in the future,” Engel said.
