It seems I spend a lot of time talking about places and things from the past in Bandera. It takes over conversations everywhere I go. As much as it hurts to think of the things we cherished disappearing from our past history I know that the real loss is in the people missing from our lives now.

The 28th annual Bandera Pet Parade drew over 50 pets to compete for ribbons and walk in the yearly pet parade on July 4 held at the Bandera River Park. Entry to the park and parade was free.

Food pantry scheduled for Thursday
Alamo RCD Area, Inc., Senior Assistance Program, sponsors the Free Food Pantry every month. The next Food Distribution is Thursday, July 11, from Noon to 1:30 p.m., at The Way Church, 7789 FM 1283. Fourteen fans were handed out in June, but there are a few more 20 inch box fans available. So many senior citizens do not have, or cannot afford, air conditioning and they really appreciate the fans. Applicants must be 55+ and reside in Bandera County. A 2024 registration is required and applicants can register at the door or on the website.

City Council approves drought ordinances
The Bandera City Council voted unanimously to officially approve new drought and water restrictions on June 25, with the new changes including allowing citizens to hand-wash vehicles, water gardens and fill pools between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.
