Douglas Robert “Rob” Sandidge, 73, passed from this earth on Nov. 16 at his home in Tarpley.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1949 in San Antonio to G. T. Jr. and Rena Sandidge.

He grew up in Bandera County, primarily on the Tarpley Ranch where he died.

Rob attended schools in Bandera, where he graduated from Bandera High School in 1968. He attended and graduated from Sul Ross University in Alpine where he met and married (on Dec. 22, 1970) the love of his life, Roxy Lynne Boyd.

Rob and Roxy had 2 sons, Tobey Carl Sandidge (Sharon) and John Manning “Manny” (Jennifer) Sandidge. The Sandidges lived in Tarpley, where they were all active in school and youth livestock activities.

Rob was a Bandera schools trustee from 1980 to 1986. Rob was active in the Tarpley Volunteer Fire organization, and for many years was “pitmaster” for the VFD’s annual BBQ fundraiser.

He was active and served on the board in the Bandera County Soil and Water Conservation organization.

He also served on the board of Hondo Bank and the Tarpley Cemetery association.

Rob was a director with Bandera Electric Cooperative until he retired in 2019 after his cancer diagnosis.

He is preceded in death by his parents and by an older brother, G.T. Sandidge III. Rob is survived by his wife and sons and daughtersin- law; five grandchildren, Calvin and Nolan Sandidge, and Luke, Levi and Layne Sandidge; one brother, Dan (Ella) Sandidge; one sister, Janna (Leslie) Hawes; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
