LELA “MARLENE” HUNT PAPE

Lela “Marlene” Hunt Pape of Bandera, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born to Louis and Aileen (Stevens) Hunt in Karnes, Texas on July 7, 1931. She graduated from Bandera High School and later went to work for Southwestern Bell Telecommunications where she was employed for many years.

Marlene married the love of her life, Weldon Pape, on January 11, 1969 in Bexar County. She was proud of the roots her family established as one of the founding families of Bandera. Marlene will always be remembered for her joyful spirit, generous heart, love of family, devoted friendships and church fellowship. She loved to dance, water-ski and bowl. Marlene is survived by her sister, Rosalyn Hunt Brown; nephew, Michael Boyette and wife, Therese Hartwell; niece, Toni Boyette and partner, Tim Morris; numerous great nieces and nephews; as well as dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Pape; parents, Louis and Aileen (Stevens) Hunt; sister, Maxine Hunt; and nephew, Jeffrey Boyette.

A private interment will take place at Bandera Cemetery where Marlene will be laid to rest next to her husband, Weldon. A public Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Bandera, officiated by Pastor Sam Radoman, with a reception following.
