Constance Elaine Smith passed away at Cibolo Creek Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Boerne, Texas on February 21, 2022. A celebration of life will be held on March 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar at 307 11th St. in Bandera, Texas.

Constance was born on June 26, 1947, in Bay City Michigan to Fred and Lela Wood, but moved to Houston as a young child, where she was raised by her mother. She spent her early life in the Houston area, eventually settling in Bandera, Texas. In Houston, Connie worked at a prosthetic company after she underwent an amputation for medical reasons at a young age. In that position, she helped other amputees with their new prosthetics. She also worked at the Texas Racing Commission.

After moving to Bandera, Connie owned and operated several small businesses. Connie was a prominent part of the Bandera community and volunteered her time generously to help others in that community. She was a loving mother and a friend to all. Her smile, laughter, hugs, love and support will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Connie is survived by her sons, Michael (Sharon) Baker and Robert Baker; her sister, Leeann Whitley; her stepson, David Smith; her stepdaughter, Kelly Smith; her granddaughter, Kyla Oubre; and her grandson, Clegg Beane.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lela Elaine Lilley; and her father, Fred Wood.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of Connie’s friends who have always been there for her throughout her life in the Bandera community. We would also like to thank everyone who helped us plan Connie’s celebration of life.

In lieu of floral remembrances the family suggest donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and Bandera helping hand.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the staff of Holt & Holt Funeral Home of Boerne. To share words of comfort with the family, please visit www.holtfh.com.
