Carl L Johnson, age 68, of Sonora Texas passed into his Heavenly Father’s arms on Monday, 2/21/2022, at home with family by his side.

Carl was born in Mesa, Arizona to parents, Carl Joe and Etta Baker Johnson. At one week old, he got to TEXAS as quickly as possible! Carl was one of 11 children. Calling TEXAS his home, he graduated high school and joined the US Navy. Carl made a career of the military, proudly serving his country for 22 years. During his years of military service he traveled 2 ½ times around the world. He’s seen places that most of us only dream to visit or not. He met the love of his life, Terri Clark, in 1976 in New Orleans, LA. They married in 1977 and welcomed their daughter, Kylie, to the family in 1989.

Carl worked for brother, Robert Johnson, and Johnson Pest Control following military retirement. He and his family established their home in Sonora Texas in 1996. They owned and operated Sonora Air Cooled Engines and Buck N Bass Outdoors for 25 years before retiring 12/31/2021.

Carl served on numerous boards and committees: Sutton County 4H, Sutton County Friends of NRA, Sutton County Game Dinner, Concho Valley Work Force and the Sonora Volunteer Fire Department, of which he served for 17 years before retiring.

Carl was an avid outdoors man and a Life Member of the NRA. He jumped at the chance to go shooting, hunting or fishing. He loved his country and his fellow friends and family members. His passing will be felt by those remaining on this earth.

Left to cherish Carl’s memory is wife, Terri and daughter, Kylie. Brothers: Robert Johnson (Jan), Will Johnson, Leroy Johnson (Joy), Craig Johnson (Jojo) and Carl Joe Johnson. Sisters: Jo Highsmith, Deedie Johnson and Carlita Johnson. Also survived by Sister-in-law: Diane Lacayo (Dennis) and Brother-in-law: Toby Clark (Charli). Carl had numerous nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart as well as his special employee, Daniel Campa. Daniel was somewhat of an adopted son and certainly family!

Family there to welcome Carl through the gates of Heaven were his parents, his Father-in-law: Jack Clark, Mother-in-law: Kathleen Giddiens, Brother: Eugene Johnson, Sister: Ruth Callahan and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church in Sonora on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 10:00am.
