The latest drought conditions as of July 6 showed extreme or worse drought has been eliminated from the state for the first time since June 2020, according to the Texas Water Development Board.

Only six percent of the state remains in drought, the lowest since July 2019.

Three months ago, 74 percent of the state was in some form of drought.

Since 2000, the total area of the state in drought has been six percent or less about 23 percent of the time, according to officials with the Texas Water Development Board.

The state has been entirely free of drought about seven percent of the time and entirely covered by drought about one percent of the time.

Because of these conditions, there is currently no burn ban in place in Bandera County.

However, those who are planning to burn are asked to register their burn online at banderacounty.org/departments/fire_marshal.htm orww call 830-796-4507 before burning.
