Bandera County Commissioner Jody Rutherford poses with Arthur Nagel Community Clinic Board President Llyod Norris, showcasing his hometown hero plaque. The honor was bestowed on Rutherford last Saturday, Nov. 11, at the clinic’s annual Cork and Fork gala, which benefits the clinic.

Jody dedicated 17 years to the Utopia ISD Board and was the initial Rural Health Initiative for Middle Rio Grande Development Council, addressing healthcare needs in underserved regions of southwest Texas.

Additionally, he co-founded Utopia EMS and played a key role in establishing various volunteer EMS programs across rural southwest Texas. Rutherford became a certified EMT, progressing to paramedic, and was the first certified Course Coordinator/Instructor in rural southwest Texas.
