The Bandera City Council voted unanimously at Dec. 21’s special meeting to appoint councilman Jerry Russe as mayor pro tem.

During discussion regarding the position, Mayor Rebeca Gibson addressed the council, “I honestly would be happy to work with any one of you. It is ultimately your decision.” Councilwoman, Linda Palmer motioned to appoint Russe as Mayor Pro Tem. Councilman, Jeff Flowers, seconded the motion. The council then voted all in favor. In other council business, former Marshal William Dietrich and former Mayor Suzanne Schauman were removed from all city bank accounts and replaced with new signers. Council also approved final budget amendments for the 2021-2022 budget.

A resolution authorizing the closing of Bandera Bank accounts was moved to their next regular meeting.

Finally, Bandera City Council met in closed session to consult with the counsel regarding complaints filed against City Administrator William Cox.

After the closed session with the attorney, the council met for deliberation in another closed session, at Cox’s request, to hear the complaints against Cox.
