After four years of saving, the Mandry family is opening their dream restaurant: Boonies Pizza, a pizza establishment located in Pipe Creek that promises takeout seven days a week – and, in the not-too-distant future, delivery.

Nick and Kori Mandry, who currently live in Helotes but spent many years in Pipe Creek, say they understand how hard or time-consuming it can be to get food in Pipe Creek.

“Sometimes, you want a hot, fresh meal on the way home,” said Nick.

Kori chimed in, “By the time you get back from somewhere like Boerne or Bandera, it’s cold.” The duo owns a construction company and had no previous with restaurants before setting out on this venture, but they believed there was a good opportunity for them to be part of the area’s growth. After saving cash for four years, the Mandrys say they were able to start the whirlwind process of opening a restaurant without any loans – a process they started in March.

“Going from knowing nothing about the food service industry to learning it all in a month was a lot,” said Kori. “We basically ha to spend 34 hours a day learning, reading, talking to people.”

Their tireless dedication pays off with their grand opening on July 4, which will feature food f r o m th e restaurant, a lemonade truck and beer from S&M Spirits & More. Boonies suggests arriving around 6 to make sure to get food in time for the fireworks, which will take place after dark. Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are encouraged. Located at 10151 Highway 16 S, Boonies Pizza also currently hiring full-time and parttime employees starting at $12 hourly. Interested applicants can email BooniesPizzaLimited@gmail.com.

The Mandrys say they are looking forward to investing in the community, especially the youth.

“Neither of us went to college, but we were still able to be successful,” said Nick. We Want to pass our knowledge on to the young generation. We’re excited to invest in the community by partnering with other businesses and teaching kids about becoming an entrepreneur.” Boonie Pizza is currently constructing a website, but they are active on Facebook.
