The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic was one of six nonprofit healthcare centers in Texas recently awarded a grant by Americares, a health-focused relief and development organization.

Specifically, the clinic was given $4,860 to purchase a heating and cooling system for their waiting room.

"Our beautifully designed Clinic features a mostly-glass walled waiting area, which has often been warmer in summer and cooler in winter," said Clinical Director Susan Broa. "We appreciate Americares responding to our need to keep our patients as comfortable as possible with this generous grant for a super new twin ceiling unit that does exactly that."

A total of $100,000 in grants were awarded by Americares, who prioritized clinics serving low-income, uninsured and underinsured patients.

The grants are part of Americares disaster recovery and resilience work, which aims to increase the climate resilience of community health clinics so they can continue to care for patients in times of disaster.

Since its founding more than 40 years ago, Americares has provided more than $20 billion in aid to 164 countries.
