The Museum of Western Art is set to host a special reception on Saturday, July 15, in honor of renowned Western Pop Artist Billy Schenck.

Schenck, known as one of the pioneers of the contemporary “Pop” Western movement, alongside artists Fritz Scholder and Luis Jimenez, brings a unique art form to the museum.

This movement has provided a conceptual and aesthetic counterpoint to traditional Western art. With a career spanning four decades, Schenck is a true giant in this distinctive Western art form.

The reception, taking place during the seven- week exhibition of Billy Schenck: Mystic Visions of the West, will showcase thirty of the artist’s unique works, all available for purchase.

Additionally, twelve pieces owned by the Schenck Foundation will be on display. Visitors will also have the opportunity to admire three of Schenck’s remarkable serigraphs, which are created using a hand-pulled art process in a highly specialized style.

The highlight of the reception will be the live podcast recording between Dr. Beauchamp and Mr. Schenck from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., followed by a Q&A session with the artist. The meet-and-greet with Billy Schenck will take place from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the main gallery.

Dr. Beauchamp notes that Schenck, in addition to his distinguished career as an artist, is often referred to as the Andy Warhol of Western Art and has authored several books on art. Moreover, Schenck is a six-time World Champion Ranch Rodeo Cowboy.

Attendees can enjoy complimentary refreshments, including highlights from Cabo Bob’s Taco Bar. To secure admission, a complimentary ticket can be downloaded and presented at the door by visiting www. museumofwesternart. com and searching under “events.”

For those without internet access, the museum can be contacted at 830.896.2553.

Billy Schenck’s Mystic Visions of the West will be on display at the Museum of Western Art from July 15 to September 2. The museum is located at 1550 Bandera Highway in Kerrville, Texas.
