The free quarterly community breakfast returns to the Bandera American Legion Post 157 this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until Noon at 205 12 Street.

The “heavy on protein” menu remains unchanged: pancakes, sausage, bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits, omelets to order, bottomless coffee and all the fixings.

“Our veteran volunteers are so very glad that breakfast has returned. They have a super time serving the community,” said Commander Susan Junker.

“It is free to the public and donations are accepted. This outreach event began in 2014 as a way to ensure a hot breakfast and relaxing time with family and community was available for all to enjoy,” she said.

At each breakfast, other non-profit and government organizations participate by providing information or fund-raising and sometimes a special holiday is recognized.

The June 12 breakfast will feature the Texas Workforce Commission providing information on their services and assistance to speed the post-pandemic return to work.

The Lakehills Community Center will share their packed summer schedule with a special emphasis on the two “Back to School Bash” events on August 7 and 8.

The American Legion will be selling their remaining scholarship raffle tickets, and the draw ing will be held at noon.

Everyone is encouraged to examine their United States flags and bring their unserviceable ones to breakfast for turn in and proper retirement. All flags should be in excellent condition to celebrate Flag Day on June 14.

A special invitation to all Women Veterans to attend breakfast and receive special recognition for their service to the nation.

Women Veterans Day was approved by the Texas Legislature in 2017, and will not go without honors to our local women veterans on Saturday.
