Summer Reading is coming!

Starting onJune 7, the library will have crafting kits available for pick up. This year’s theme is Tails & Tales, and each week we are focusing on either a fairy tale or animals.

Week one has a Snow White theme with “mirror mirror on the wall” as the inspiration. Preschoolers will receive a craft to make their own hand mirror, elementary students and older students will receive a kit to decorate their own wall mirror.

All supplies are included. You can register for summer reading at the library and get your child’s reading log. When a child completes their log, they will be able to pick a prize from our prize box.

This is a great way to keep your child reading all summer long and have them prepared for school when it resumes in the fall.

We have a huge selection of books for children of all ages, so come check them out!

Maybe you are asking yourself, “what am I missing by not going to the library?” Well, let me tell you!

We can take care of services like notary, faxing, printing, and assisting you in using your technology. We can answer questions for you by helping you find reliable sources for your information needs.

The library has a huge selection of books, audio books, and DVD’s as well as free books you can download anywhere you have internet access.

Speaking of the internet, you can use one of our public use computers when we are open, or connect to our free high-speed internet from anywhere on the property 24/7.

We would love to hear from you about what you would like to see from the library in the future and look forward to serving your information, recreation and educational needs in the future.

Live book club has resumed! Book club will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

In June, the book club will be discussing “The Huntress” by Katie Quinn.

This month’s meeting will also be an opportunity for the group to choose the rest of the books for the year. If you are interested, please come and join them to discuss this month’s book and choose the upcoming reads for discussion.

Do you love the library? If so and you would like to be a library board member, we are actively seeking out representatives of the community to serve on the board.

You can pick up a board application at the front desk next time you visit us.

Diana Landes is the Director of the Lakehills Area Library.
