Two back to school events sponsored by Hill Country Samaritans (HCS) and the county’s three school districts are equipping students for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.

The upcoming Back to School Bash will serve Utopia Independent School District (ISD) and Medina Independent School District (MISD) on Saturday, August 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Medina Children’s Home and Bandera Independent School District (BISD) students on Sunday August 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lakehills Community Center.

Homeschoolers and private school students are also invited to the events, which are free while supplies last.

Students must be present at the events to receive supplies.

In addition to hundreds of fully-stocked backpacks with school supplies catered to each school district’s supply list, the event will also offer tutoring information health services and referrals, school registration and lunch services, haircuts, music, crafts, carnival games, free food, insurance information and more.

HCS officials stressed that this event brings the entire community together with an amazing display of support for students.

“We are overwhelmed by the incredible support from all of our community here in Bandera County,” said HCS Secretary Meredith Vis.

“We are so blessed by our businesses, school staff, churches, and other community members that have responded to this opportunity with such enthusiasm,” she continued. “It would not be possible without this strong network, and we look forward to an amazing Back to School Bash!”
